Baptism invitations need to include the following items: location, date, time, the parents and babys names, a quick description of the event, an RSVP line or separate card, and directions to the church. Usually for baptisms, you will not need more than a dozen invitations.
You should send invitations at least three to four weeks before the baptism. For guests who need to travel from out of town or if the baptism is on a holiday like Easter you should give more notice to ensure theres enough time for travel planning. Include an RSVP card so you can keep track of who is attending.
Who Should Pay for the Party. Etiquette usually requires the parents to pay for the celebration after the christening. This is also the main reason the gathering doesnt need to be a full-course dinner. New parents usually dont have the time to plan an extensive menu or the funds to throw an elaborate party.
Anywhere from four to ten people is appropriate, though this number is flexible. Typically, guests will include: Godparents: Part of the essential cast of people in your newborns life, the godparents should be invited to the baptism and baptism party.
When youre invited to a baptism or christening, its customary to bring a gift. For someone of Christian faith, a gift with spiritual significance may be the norm for example, a rosary, bible, or bible verse in a picture frame.
Send out invitations to guests at least two months before the baptism, to give people time to respond to the invitation. Most churches are fine with guests from outside their congregation attending the service.
