The three base DITA information types are concept, task and reference. What is a topic? A topic in DITA is an independent chunk of information covering a single idea or task, authored as a unit, and stored in its own file. Topics are categorised by information type.
There are two distinct types of DITA documents, topics and maps. In addition to the DITA topic and map types, Arbortext also supports the DITA Ditabase document type. DITA Ditabase documents are used to collect different types of DITA topics into a single document.
DITA defined It is based on the idea of building information types for specific representation of structured content from a common initial topic. Like any structured architecture, it is based on a set of rules referenced in a DTD or a schema. The key information types include topic, concept, reference, and task.
Content created using DITA is in XML format, making it machine-readable. DITA content is componentized, arranged in topics and maps, and most commonly stored in a component content management system (CCMS).
All topics have the same basic structure, regardless of topic type: title, description, prolog, and body. All DITA topics must have an ID, a title, and a body.
Using DITA XML, you can create structured content once and then reuse it in multiple formats and contexts. This allows you to break down your content into smaller modules that can be reused in different ways. Modular content is easier to understand, update, and translate than unstructured content.
A topic in DITA is the most granular entity of information. ing to the DITA specifications, a topic should be short enough to be easily readable, but long enough to make sense on its own. To cover separate content such as concepts, tasks, reference, the DITA standard specifies different information types.
What Is a DITA Task Topic? A task topic is a DITA content component built for clear, concise, step-by-step instructions. I like food, and recipe instructions are a prime example of a DITA task topic. Step-by-step instructions to guide you through assembling a dish for a meal.
