this is part two of link 2 XML tutorial in this video well discuss creating an XML document using n memory collection of objects in part 1 of this video series we discussed creating this XML document by hard coding these XML elements in code if you recollect the example that we worked with in the previous video session notice that student data is hard-coded within the application in real-time applications data usually resides in a database table there are several data access technologies that are available today to retrieve data from the database for example we could use a do dotnet or link to sequel or entity framework once the application has retrieved data from the database then the application may use data structures like arrays less queues etc to store that data in memory for processing for the purpose of this demo lets assume that we already have the student data retrieved from the database and the application is storing it n NR a and now what we want to do is create this XML

Sharding is a database architecture pattern related to horizontal partitioning the practice of separating one tables rows into multiple different tables, known as partitions. Each partition has the same schema and columns, but also entirely different rows.
The STUFF function inserts a string into another string. It deletes a specified length of characters in the first string at the start position and then inserts the second string into the first string at the start position.
There really isnt an alternative in SQL Server. I mean, there are two other possible ways to do aggregate string concatenation: write your own UDF or, if you only have a handful of values, use rownumber() and string concatenation. Before going down that route, try to optimize your query.
The parsed document is a tree representation of the nodes (elements, attributes, text, and comments) in the XML document. OPENXML then refers to this parsed XML document and provides a rowset view of all or parts of this XML document.
Shredding XML For example, shredding is what happens when an XML document is imported into a table, when each node value is mapped to a specific field in the table. A popular method to use for this is to use the OPENXML() function, but XQuery methods can also be engaged to perform the same tasks.
MSSQL STUFF Function equivalent in MySQL is INSERT function.
Definition and Usage The STUFF() function deletes a part of a string and then inserts another part into the string, starting at a specified position. Tip: Also look at the REPLACE() function.
If youre familiar with SQL Server, you might know that you can use the T-SQL STUFF() function to insert a string within a string. As it turns out, MySQL has a similar function but with a different name. MySQLs INSERT() function does essentially the same thing that the T-SQL STUFF() function does.
The STUFF() function deletes a part of a string and then inserts another part into the string, starting at a specified position. Tip: Also look at the REPLACE() function.
We can use FOR XML PATH to prepare a comma-separated string from the existing data. Lets create an Authors table and insert a few records into it. In the data, we can see we have an ID column and the AuthorName column. If we just select the records, it gives the output in the following format.
