In this tutorial, the instructor demonstrates how to split shapes in two different ways using Adobe Illustrator. They start by creating a circle and changing its color to black. Then, they make a cut out at the center of the circle by drawing another circle and changing its color. Next, they use the rectangular tool to draw two rectangles and align them horizontally and vertically. By selecting all the objects and using the pathfinder option, they split the shapes, creating a gap between them.
