The tutorial explains how to use the Knife tool in Illustrator to cut shapes. The tool is located in the toolbar next to the Eraser tool. To cut a shape, simply select the Knife tool and draw a line through the shape. The shape will be sliced into different pieces. By applying a stroke, the cut lines are visible. To draw a straight line, hold the ALT key while clicking and dragging. This creates a clean straight line instead of a curved freehand line.
