The tutorial explains how to cut a shape using the knife tool in Adobe Illustrator. The knife tool is located in the toolbar beneath the eraser tool. To use it, select the knife tool and draw a line through the shape to cut it into pieces. A stroke can be applied to show the cut lines. Holding the ALT key allows for drawing straight lines instead of curved ones.
