Splitting textual data into sentences can be considered as an easy task, where a text can be splitted to sentences by . or /n characters. However, in free text data this pattern is not consistent, and authors can break a line in the middle of the sentence or use . in wrong places.
In Word documents etc., each newline indicates a new paragraph so youd just use `text. split(\n)` (where `text` is a string variable containing the text of your file). In other formats, paragraphs are separated by a blank line (two consecutive newlines), so youd use `text. split(\n\n)`.
Python String split() Method The split() method splits a string into a list. You can specify the separator, default separator is any whitespace. Note: When maxsplit is specified, the list will contain the specified number of elements plus one.
Obviously, if we are talking about a single paragraph with a few sentences, the answer is no brainer: you do it manually by placing your cursor at the end of each sentence and pressing the ENTER key twice.
Always force a page break before a paragraph Select the paragraph that you want to follow the page break. On the Home tab in Word, or on the FORMAT TEXT tab in an Outlook email, select the Paragraph Dialog Box launcher . Select the Line and Page Breaks tab. Under Pagination, select Page break before. Select OK.
Here is a sure-fire method to split your long sentences into shorter and more easily understandable ones: Split your sentences at conjunctions like and, or, while, however, although etc. Those are the connection points where one clause is linked to another.
For splitting sentences first mark the clauses. Then make sub-clauses independent by omitting subordinating linkers and inserting subjects or other words wherever necessary. Example When I went to Delhi I met my friend who lives there. Clause 1 (When) I went to Delhi.
Changing topics or introducing a new idea Start a new paragraph whenever you introduce a new idea or change direction in your argument.
