Minor scuffing or scratching can normally be fixed with a few extra coats of Saphir Cream Polish. However, sometimes shoe polish is not enough to repair or conceal deep gouges or scratches.
To repair the shoes, just clean the scuffed marks with a dampened cloth then air-dry. Apply a small amount of Modge Podge on the damaged spot using a paint brush. Wait until the product is completely dry and thats it.
In most cases leather fillers are used in conjunction with sanding, buffing and redyeing to restore the scratch. Such work is best completed by a leather professional or experienced cobbler to avoid any further damage to your shoes.
Remove scuff marks with toothpaste As a bonus, the toothpaste solution is also a great way to brighten up those rubber soles. Step 1: Apply a small amount of white (non-gel) toothpaste to the brush and gently polish the scuffs. Step 2: With a damp cloth, wipe away the toothpaste and allow the shoes to air dry.
Yes, your boots can be fixed. Our repair dept. at Boyers Bootnshoe, can successfully buff out most scuffs, scrapes, and gouges. How much can be removed depends on several things, the color of the leather, how soft the leather is, and how deep the damage is.
Many cobblers will also apply waterproofing at the same time for the same price, which is normally around $10 to $15 on its own. Got more intense scratches and scuffs, or even holes in the leather? Your cobbler can fix them, but it will cost you an extra $25.
Step By Step: How to Fix Light Scuffs on Leather Boots and Shoes Step 1: Clean the surface. Step 2: Heat the scuffed area lightly with a hair dryer. Step 3: Massage the scuffed area with a clean cloth or towel. Step 4: If the scuff is still visible, apply petroleum jelly to the surface of your shoe.
