An epub is just a zip file containing XHTML text files, images, and other resources. You can edit the XHTML files directly if you are a coder or know how to edit HTML. Even if you have no experience editing HTML you can still quickly make changes to your epub with a simple WYSIWYG editor called Sigil.
First, right-click on the epub file you want to split and select the EpubSplit icon on the toolbar. Second, highlight the sections you want to split and click New Book(make one new book containing the sections selected above). The new book has been created and default metadata filled in.
Editing an EPUB. An EPUB is essentially a ZIP file containing nested folders with XHTML text, images, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), embedded fonts, and metadata files. Almost anyone can edit EPUB files with the help of an eBook editing tool, although some familiarity with hypertext markup language (HTML) is helpful.
Create TOCs Click Tools, hover over Table of Contents and select Generate Table of Contents. Click Tools again, hover over Table of Contents, and select Create HTML Table OfContents.
calibre calibre on your computer. Download the EPUB version of the open textbook youd like to edit. Open the textbook in calibre. Click on Add books to add your book. Click on Edit book to launch the editor. Double click the section/chapter of the text you want to edit. Add/delete/modify the text.
Adding a chapter Create a new HTML file anywhere, preferably beside the other HTML files. Inside the package file, under the manifest list, add a new item similar to any of the other existing chapters in the list (the order does not matter).
Export to EPUB book Open your document in Pages for Mac. Choose File Export To EPUB. Type in the Title and Author. Choose the type of cover for your EPUB book. Choose the layout style you want to use. (Optional) Under Advanced Options, select a Primary Category and a Language for your book.
Can ePUB files have images? You can insert images both in jpg and png format, but we recommend working with the jpg format. Image size: you can insert images of any size.
