In the QuickTime Player app on your Mac, open the movie you want to split into clips, then choose View Show Clips. Move the playhead (the red vertical line) to the place where you want to split the clip (or use the Touch Bar), then choose Edit Split Clip. Your movie splits into two clips.
There are three ways you can snip on your Mac: Capture everything on your screen using the following combination of keys: ⌘ + Shift + 3. Use ⌘ + Shift + 4 to capture a selection of your screen. Press ⌘ + Shift + 5 to call up the screen-recording panel and select the desired option.
In the QuickTime Player app on your Mac, open the movie you want to trim, then choose Edit Trim. Drag the yellow handles in the trimming bar. The area outside of the yellow handles is the area to be trimmed. Tip: To make more precise edits, click and hold a handle to see individual frames of the clip.
Press Command-X on your keyboard to cut the selected item. Or choose Cut from the Edit menu in the menu bar. Or Control-click (or right-click) the item you selected, then choose Cut from the shortcut menu.
Cut and Paste instructions: Open the location where the file/folder is stored and the location where you want the file/folder to be copied to. Select the item you want to Cut. Right click (control-click) on it. Select Cut from the menu. Right click inside the location where you want to save the file.
Command-X: Cut the selected item and copy it to the Clipboard. Command-C: Copy the selected item to the Clipboard.

Why Cant You Cut Files on a Mac? It might seem confusing if youre coming to Mac from Windows, but Finders Cut option in the Edit menu is reserved only for text. You cant cut files or folders with this option on a Mac.
