As the name suggests, mirrored pieces are pieces of the same exact shape, but cut in opposite directions, so as to be symmetrical mirror images of each other. We frequently need to cut mirrored pieces when sewing garments. Consider the front of a cardigan, for example.
In sewing and fashion design, a pattern is the template from which the parts of a garment are traced onto woven or knitted fabrics before being cut out and assembled.
"Cut one on fold" means you will need one piece of fabric cut ing to a half pattern piece. You do not cut along the fold. The pattern piece should align with the fold of the fabric. When cut and unfolded, you will get a piece of fabric that is double the size of the pattern template.
Don't cut the fold, because that side doesn't have seam allowance to allow it to be sewn to anything. So when you are getting ready to cut, fold your fabric so that the grain-line is along the fold and place the pattern so the fold edge is along the fabric fold. Do you know what grain-line is? It's ok if you don't.
Pattern cutting refers to creating basic patterns, with your specific measurements, which you can adapt to make different designs. Since the final product is based on your measurements, the fitting is much better as compared to the ready-made patterns you buy.
It means you fold the fabric in half along the grain line and line up the "place on fold" edge of the pattern to match the folded edge of your fabric.

A: In the industry, patterns are used to cut the fabric pieces and the garment is made. Patterns are made so that the same style can be duplicated when needed and multiple pieces can be made. You don't have to start from scratch each.
If you are unfamiliar with these terms, then cut and spread is a pattern cutting technique where you make a copy of your pattern piece, splice into the paper as needed and then move the different elements of the pattern around until you are happy with the new shape.
If your pattern says to "Cut 2", you'll want to fold your fabric half with your selvages together. (If you are unfamiliar with the word selvage, check out our Fabric Anatomy post.) Notice the selvages are on the right side and the fold is on the left.
