In Georgia, there is no state law that limits how much a landlord can increase rent.
Landlords should provide proper notice before raising the rent. Although a 30-day advance notice is customary, Illinois has no statewide notice requirements. Instead, the notice requirements are governed by individual cities. In Chicago, the notice period is 60 days for a six-month or longer fixed-term lease.
There is no cap on how much a landlord can raise the rent when renewing the lease agreement.
Landlords cannot raise rent more than 10% total or 5% plus the percentage change in the cost of living whichever is lower over a 12-month period.
Most landlords give notice of a rent increase at one payment period in advance. Depending on the length of the lease at issue and where the property is located, landlords may need to provide notice from 7 days to 60 days in advance.
Are There Any Limits To Rent Increases In Georgia? No, they arent. Landlords can increase rent prices as much as they want. Georgia has not imposed a cap on the amount that property owners can request for a rental unit.
