If the movie is being shot on 35mm film which is very expensive, and the director likes the actors performance and the cameras performance, the 1st AD will also yell, Print which means that this is a good take and everyone including the script supervisor, the sound person and the camera assistant will circle this
Action may be preceded by background action if extras must be in motion in the shot, which is called by one of the lower ADs or sometimes the first. Usually the director says cut, but camera operators may also cut to save film if they know the take is unusable.
Final cut privilege or final cut right, a film industry term, usually meaning the right of a director to final approval of any edits.
Print. When the director yells print after the shooting of a particular scene, this means that the scene is good and it is to be kept. Another word for the term print is Hold.
(Print that) This is something that the Director says to the Script Supervisor or sometimes to the Cinematographer and/or Assistant Director to let them know she liked the take. Another take may be created (just in case) and so the Director may add, Id like to go again or she may say Im ready to move on.
Cut When the Director is ready to stop recording the scene she yells Cut and this signals the crew to stop recording or to stop doing whatever their job is in relation to recording the shot. Cut can be yelled mid-scene if the Director is not happy about how the recording is going.
Wrap, as used in the phrase Thats a wrap, has been used by directors since the early days of the film industry to signal the end of filming. Since the 1920s, filmmakers have been using this phrase when principal photography is concluded and the film is ready to go into post-production.
