Drag and drop a few e-book files into calibre, or click the Add books button and browse for the e-books you want to work with.
With the Kindle Fire 8 or newer there is an icon that shows up when the USB cable is plugged in, showing that the device is charging. Tap that and switch the device to data transfer mode, and then start calibre, it should then be detected.
Copy the library folder onto a flash drive on the old PC. On the MacBook drag the folder from the flash drive and just drop it into the Calibre screen while it is running. That will trigger an import.
Simply plug your device into the computer with a USB cable. calibre should automatically detect the device and then you can transfer books to it by clicking the Send to device button.
The default input format, in the upper-left corner, is ZIP; the output format, in the upper-right corner, should default to MOBI. (If it doesnt, select MOBI or EPUB.)
Creating Virtual libraries To use a Virtual library click the Virtual library button located to the left of the Search bar and select the Create Virtual library option. As a first example, lets create a Virtual library that shows us only the books by a particular author.
Open the file Open Calibre and select Add books in the upper left. Navigate to the ePub on your computer and select Open. The ePub will be added to the list in the main Calibre window. Right-click the ePub and select Edit book from the bottom of the menu.
To delete a book with Calibre is simple enough:- with the Kindle connected, in Calibre, go to the green Recycle icon next to the books listing there, and that will remove it from the device.Be sure not to remove from Kindle and Library both - that will mean it is lost and cannot be reloaded (unless you had a copy on
