On a Mac, the keyboard shortcut Option + Shift + Dash (-) makes an em dash, and Option + Dash (-) makes an en dash. On Windows, its less simple: you need to use an alt code to get an em dash. If you have a numeric keyboard, hold down the Alt key and type 0151 for an em dash or 0150 for an en dash.
Double-click the image, and size and crop tools appear below the image that use the current images size as the frame. To crop, make sure the Crop icon is selected in image toolbar below the photo, then drag the handles with black squares to change the crop. As you drag, Pages shows you the dimensions.
With your document open in Pages on Mac, click View Show Invisibles from the menu bar. You should immediately see the formatting symbols in your current document. And you can use the same action to Hide Invisibles again. A nice feature for the Invisibles in Pages on Mac is that you can change the color.
Click Close. Tip: You can also use the keyboard shortcut. Click where you want to insert the nonbreaking hyphen, and press Ctrl+Shift+Minus Sign.
1. For Mac: press option+shift+hyphen key. Word will automatically convert it to an em-dash. On some Mac keyboards, the option key is called alt. For desktop PC: press alt+ctrl+minus on the numeric keypad (the number section on the far right of your keyboard).
Chrome OS: Type If you use a Chrome OS device, you can insert both an em dash and en dash without taking your hands away from the keyboard. Press Shift-Ctrl-U, type the numbers 2014 (one by one), and press spacebar.
The dash (), also called the em dash, is the long horizontal bar, much longer than a hyphen.
A prohibitory symbol, which looks like a circle with a line or slash through it, means that your startup disk contains a Mac operating system, but its not a version or build of macOS that your Mac can use.
