welcome once again to latos law heres Steve lato Bob sent me a one sentence email and said Steve can you please explain a mechanics lien or a garage keeper lean and Im specifically talking about the liens that have to do with automobiles some states have got mechanics liens and they actually use that in reference to any work done uh for instance on a piece of property you bring in a plumber and he works in your house and you refuse to pay him in some states that Palmer may be able to file a lien against your property to assure that he gets paid if nothing else at least when the home gets sold so Im talking about garage keeper liens or mechanics liens on automobiles because in Michigan they are authorized by MCL 570.301 at sac and theyve been around for a long long time and believe it or not years ago I had a friend who owned a gas station and he also did mechanical work there and at one occasion somebody brought a vehicle in and asked him to do the work sign the authorization did

Claim of Lien In Georgia, if payment has not been received for labor, materials or services, a lien claimant must file his Claim of Lien within three months (not 90 days) from the time the last materials, labor or services were delivered or supplied to the project, or its lien rights are deemed forever abandoned.
If you do not wish to continue any of your liens, no action is required. If you are a lienholder and need to remove a lien from a title, complete the lien release on the front of the title document, submit a letter on company letterhead or you may release the lien electronically on electronic titles.

Code Ann. 29-5-10 et. seq., a contractor, subcontractor or supplier with a lien claim can file a mechanics lien within 90 days of the date of the last furnishing of labor or materials. The claimant must then bring a lawsuit within 180 days of the date of last furnishing; otherwise, the lien claim dissolves.
