Erase ink Under Draw Tools, tap the Eraser. (In PowerPoint for Microsoft 365, you can choose from four erasers. With your pen or finger, drag the eraser over the ink you want to remove.
To point to or write on your slides as you present, select Pen and laser pointer tools. Press the Esc key when you want to turn off the pen, laser pointer, or highlighter. To hide or unhide the current slide in your presentation, select Black or unblack slide show.

This should prevent the permanent ink issue and allow you to erase the ink normally.
The pen ink erases based on the heat from the friction created when you erase. Its eraser is made from silicone. Your pencil eraser does not create enough heat to make the ink change color.
If you have a touch-enabled device and are using a digital pen, by default it starts drawing immediately when the pen hits the document canvas. To turn off drawing mode after youve drawn what you want, press the Esc key.
