hi in this video were going to work with the normal distribution and find cutoff points corresponding to a given percentile lets try it with an example the average daily high temperature in June and ly is 77 degrees Fahrenheit with a standard deviation of 5 degrees Fahrenheit suppose that the temperatures in June closely follow a normal distribution how cold are the coldest 10% of the days during June in LA were given a normal distribution so the first thing we should do is to draw a curve and Mark our mean then we want to think about where does this observation live the cutoff point for the coldest 10% of the days in June in LA since as the coldest 10% its going to be located at the lower end of the distribution were kind of guesstimating a cut-off your ear there and were interested in this unknown observation X were working with a normal distribution we have some percentiles it makes sense to think about z-scores usually we calculate a z-score as an observation minus the mean

Of Mice and Men is a novella written by John Steinbeck. Published in 1937, it narrates the experiences of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers, who move from place to place in California in search of new job opportunities during the Great Depression in the United States.
Lennie is killed by George at the end of the book, for Lennies own good, because 1) George thinks that Lennie will do other bad stuff, 2) George knows that Curley and his men will kill Lennie anyway because Lennie killed Curleys wife and 3) George is doing it now, without Lennie having any pain or without him knowing
The majority of the story Of Mice and Men takes place on a ranch in Soledad, California. The action is presented in only four settings at the riverbed, in the bunk house, Crookss room, and the barn which lends to the dramatic quality of the text.
George did take Lennies life but he did it to save Lennie from the pain of Curleys wrath. If George did not kill Lennie, then he would have had to suffer through life in jail or an asylum or torture from Curley.
However, at the end of the novella, George is forced to kill Lennie after Lennie kills Curleys wife. Because of these events, George will not follow their dream of living off the land despite the fact that the dream was achievable when Lennie was alive.
Desmond Tutu, a South - African social activist and retired Anglican priest once said Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness. Of Mice and Men is a novel which revolves around the lives of struggling farmers and how they still maintain hope despite their hardships.
Georges decision to kill Lennie was appropriate, as he causes to much irritation. Lennie causing trouble to Curley causes Curley to go after Lennie, just like what would happen in the real world if you messed with someone. Lennie would cause more trouble in the future if he wasnt killed, so George had to do it.
19. What does George say to Lennie before shooting him? He tells Lennie that he is a bad man and that he deserves to die. He tells Lennie that he has no other choice but to shoot him since its the law.
