1) File names can have different amounts of numbers and letters, but will end in . ZIP. 2) The file name to the left of the . ZIP uses underscore characters () to separate its codes, which are called fields.
Press and hold (or right-click) the file or folder, select (or point to) Send to, and then select Compressed (zipped) folder. A new zipped folder with the same name is created in the same location. To rename it, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Rename, and then type the new name.
File names should be kept as short as possible whilst also being meaningful. Long file names mean long file paths which increase the likelihood of error and are more difficult to remember and recognise. However, avoid using initials, abbreviations and codes that are not commonly understood.
Add the year in front of the file name if its important to sort by year. Add the date into to the end of the file name if its important to sort by name. Dont make file names too long; longer names do not work well with all types of software. For sequential numbering, use leading zeros to ensure files sort properly.
To rename sub-folders inside a ZIP archive, however, you will need to extract it, since modifying the contents requires direct access to the folder.
For large Zip files, it may be faster to rename a number of files as a batch. Select multiple files and/or folders; then press F2. A dialog will display with a list of the selected files and folders. Next, rename each file or folder by clicking on it and typing in the new name.
Possible solutions Find your downloaded Zip file. Rename the Zip file to something docHubly shorter. Try the extract again.
