welcome everybody to a full in-depth guide for how to cut foam so this will be the first part of a series that Iamp;#39;m working on where I will kind of go through the basics of how to do a lot of these smaller steps that maybe in a fullsize video I only have maybe a minute or 45 seconds or so just to explain the process so this series is really for just breaking down each step a little bit further and explaining how to really do this stuff more in depth so we taken all these different tools and Iamp;#39;ll be cutting foam so first up we have scissors now for the foam core itamp;#39;s not terrible it doesnamp;#39;t create a very clean cut I should say and you can see that definitely here on the edges where it doesnamp;#39;t go all the way through and leaves rough spots there so I would not recommend the scissors for the foam core and for the XPS foam it is substantially worse so you can see here it really just kind of crushes in the foam and tears it and would not recommend that

XPS provides elemental the composition of the surface (within 1-10 nm usually), and can be used to determine the empirical formula of the surface compounds, the identity of elements that contaminate a surface, the chemical or electronic state of each element in the surface, the uniformity of composition across top
Chemical shift arises in the initial state from the displacement of the electronic charge from the atom towards its ligands, reducing the electrostatic potential at the atom. There is a final state shift due to the polarization of the ligand by the core on the central atom.
The XPS analysis shows the Eb(O1s) to range from 528.0 to 534.0 eV, which is much wider than for other oxygenmetal systems.
X-ray spot size ranges from 10 m to 200 m. Allows micro and macro area XPS. Equipped with Ar sputtering gun for surface cleaning and depth profiling.
XPS physics - the photoelectric effect. can be thought of as an adjustable instrumental correction factor that accounts for the few eV of kinetic energy given up by the photoelectron as it gets emitted from the bulk and absorbed by the detector. It is a constant that rarely needs to be adjusted in practice.
The inset shows a quantification table indicating the atomic species, their atomic percentages and characteristic binding energies. A typical XPS spectrum is a plot of the number of electrons detected at a specific binding energy. Each element produces a set of characteristic XPS peaks.
High-Resolution XPS (HR-XPS) uses a monochromator which provides the following advantages over a standard x-ray source: An x-ray energy distribution with reduced energy width improves chemical selectivity by narrowing the spectral peaks. A lower spectral background.
Most commonly in XPS instruments the electron energy analyser is positioned so that most of the detected electrons have originated from the sample surface with a trajectory in line with the surface normal. This is called normal emission, and the electrons are said to have a take-off angle of 90 to the surface.
