You can typically find your priority date on Form I-797: Notice of Action that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) sends you after they receive a properly filed immigration petition or application.
Priority Dates are cut-off numbers that determine Immigrant Visa (permanent visa, or green card) availability in the numerically limited United States Immigrant Visa (IV) categories.
Priority date is the date on which an application was filed with the immigration authorities. It is used by the Department of State (DOS) to determine an individuals place in line in the visa queue where there are a limited number of immigrant visas available in a given year.
These two terms are often used interchangeably. This can be misleading because they do not always refer to the same date. A filing date is the date you file your application (for trade marks, patents or designs). The priority date is the date your legal right over such trade mark, patent or design commences.
Determine your Priority Date. This date appears on the Form I-797 that USCIS issued to your petitioner when the Form I-130 was approved (refer to the Receipt Date).
Current: Your priority date will switch to current status when there is no backlog and no wait time for your green card. Your priority date becomes current once USCIS has a green card available for you. Chargeability area: The chargeability area is your country of birth.
