a few weeks ago I received a question from Matt asking if we could extract start and end dates from a list of non-contiguous dates with power query for example here we can see gaps in the list of dates these gaps dictate where the date range ends now to answer Matts question yes we can do this with power query so in this video Im going to cover two methods the first one is from Catalan who works with us and while it requires few steps it may suffer performance issues on large tables and the other method will be more efficient with bigger lists but requires more steps which isnt necessarily a bad thing now Im intentionally keeping this relatively simple for those new to power query Im sure there are more complex approaches but I like to use the GUI where possible because its easier for you and me to remember okay lets get started the first method will be the one with fewer steps if youre working with a long list of dates then you might want to stay on to watch the second method
