Well, the truth is that macOS doesnt have a cut and paste feature. Instead, Apple uses move to permanently change the location of files. And while most shortcuts on Windows are similar in macOS, using Command + X will not move files for you in Finder; that shortcut only works with text.
To cut and paste on a Mac, select the item you want to move, press Command+C, then press Command+Option+V to move it to a new location. You can also access the move command in the Edit menu once youve copied a file by holding the Option key.
Go to the Apple menu System Settings Accessibility Keyboard Modifier Keys, expand the pop-up menu next to Command, and choose Command as the action you want it to perform. When copy/cut and copy not working on Mac, it may be caused by the malfunctioned clipboard, a special buffer space.
Cut and Paste instructions: Open the location where the file/folder is stored and the location where you want the file/folder to be copied to. Select the item you want to Cut. Right click (control-click) on it. Select Cut from the menu. Right click inside the location where you want to save the file.
Cut Press Command-X on your keyboard to cut the selected item. Or choose Cut from the Edit menu in the menu bar. Or Control-click (or right-click) the item you selected, then choose Cut from the shortcut menu.
