this is bev brown director of customer success for iht the purpose of this video is to show you how to separate first and last names on an excel sheet for your csv file obviously im just using this as an example normally you would have more information than column b c d make sure the column next to the names is blank so column b needs to be blank the other thing that i would do is i would come up here and i would put first space then last because all of my names have a space between the first and last name so now highlight column a go up on top to your taskbar text the columns click click next then i am going to my names are separated by space so i make sure that box is checked click next finish and click ok and then its done so that is how you take one column that has first and last names and you separate it into two columns for iht csv templates you need to have them separated

Steps to automatically remove spaces in the CSV file: Open csv file in Microsoft Excel. Select the Tag column. Select Edit Replace then select the Options button. Select the Search drop down and select By Columns. In the Find what field input a space and leave the Replace with field blank. Select Replace All.
By default, the escape character is a (double quote) for CSV-formatted files. If you want to use a different escape character, use the ESCAPE clause of COPY , CREATE EXTERNAL TABLE or gpload to declare a different escape character.
The solution for this problem is open your CSV file with Notepad++. You will have Encoding option on top of it. From Encoding, select UTF-8 and save the file. Save this answer.
Heres what works for me: Make data corrections in Excel or CSV. Save file As Unicode Text. Open NOTEPAD. Open the Unicode file you just saved using NOTEPAD. Use your cursor to highlight a blank area that holds a single tab 5a. Hit Cnrl-C to copy the tab character. Type Cnlr-H to open the Replace function box.
To remove all special characters from a string, call the replace() method on the string, passing a whitelisting regex and an empty string as arguments, i.e., str. replace(/^a-zA-Z0-9 ]/g, ) . The replace() method will return a new string that doesnt contain any special characters.
ID. csv?$ limit=number without punctuation] are the crucial elements. You can be generous with your limit; for example, if your file has between 7000 and 8000 rows, you can just enter $limit=10000.
Steps to retain initial 0 when importing a CSV: Once you open the CSV file, right-click the column letter and select Format Cells. Then choose Custom, and set the format to 00000000. This will add the leading 0 to all cells from which it is missing. Now you can use the CSV file to import your record.
Remove all unwanted characters at once In the Name box, enter the functions name: RemoveChars. Set the scope to Workbook. In the Refers to box, paste the above formula. Optionally, enter the description of the parameters in the Comments box. Click OK to save your new function.
