Unfortunately you cannot protect parts of your document as you can within Sheets. WIth Google Docs its an all or nothing type thing when it comes to editing users can either edit or they cant. Unfortunately you cannot protect parts of your document as you can within Sheets.
Enable 2FA for Google Drive in the Apps and services section. On mobile, download Google Authenticator and follow instructions to enable 2FA. In the Google Drive app, go to Settings Security and toggle on Require 2-Step Verification for file access.
Manage access: This allows them to view but not edit the document. If the document has been shared, click on the settings gear icon in the top right corner of the sharing settings panel, and ensure that Editors can change permissions and share is unchecked to prevent others from changing these settings back.
Select File Info. Click on the Protect Document drop-down menu, and choose Encrypt with Password. Upload Your Document to Google Docs: Upload your password-protected Word document to Google Docs or Drive as you would with any other file.
Deleting Google Authenticator Access the Google Authenticator app in the device you wish to unlink. Click the pencil icon (Top right) Select which you wish to remove. Then click delete (bottom of screen) This message will display. Click Remove Account.
Turn off 2-Step Verification Open your devices Settings app and tap Google. Manage your Google Account. At the top, tap Security. Under How you sign in to Google, tap 2-Step Verification. You might need to sign in. Tap Turn off. Confirm by tapping Turn off.
When hovering over a file in Drive, right-click into the context menu and choose File information Lock confirm that you actually want to lock the document by selecting Lock. Once locked, no one can make edits to the Doc until it is unlocked. You can unlock a file through the context menu as well.
Use Viewing Mode When Working Alone This makes the document unchangeable and the menu condensed. On the top right of the document toolbar, click the drop-down arrow next to Editing (or the pencil icon) and select Viewing. You can also go to View Mode in the menu and choose Viewing.
