You only need to add print bleed to your artwork if the design extends to the edge of the page. If all of your text and images are in the centre of the design and are surrounded by a plain white background, you wont need to worry about print bleed as the edges will blend seamlessly into your overall design.
Bleed refers to an extra 1/8 (. 125 in) of image or background color that extends beyond the trim area of your printing piece. The project is printed on an oversized sheet that is then cut down to size with the appearance that the image is bleeding off the edge of the paper.
Bleed is artwork that is extended beyond the actual dimensions of the document. It is used to avoid strips of white paper showing on the edges of your print when cut to size. If a document has no bleed and the trimming is out by 0 5mm then you will end up with a white strip.
A printer printing lines on the page are normally caused by a blocked, dirty, or damaged print head. Blocked ink cartridge nozzles, or not removing protective seals correctly when you installed a new ink cartridge can also cause missing lines of print.
When you first create your document, select the Print option and select your paper size. Its under Print, then Preset Details, and near the bottom of the options are Bleed and Slug. Simply set the top, bottom, left and right fields to include a 0.125 (⅛ inch) bleed.
Cut Line The cut line (aka trim line) is the line where the business card printer targets the cut. Safety Line The safety line is a margin inside from the cut line where all text must be contained.
When should I choose full bleed printing? If your design has a white background, then you do not need to choose full bleed printing. Choose full bleed printing whenever you need the design to extend to the edge of the sheet. Your file will always need to be designed properly for full bleed printing.
Step 1: Determine if your printer is capable of edge-to-edge printing Startup Menu Devices and Printers Right-click on the printer icon. Choose Printing Preferences from the pop-up menu. Look for an option called Layout or Page Layout. From here, you should have the option to set your margins to zero manually.
