Answer: The Clipboard group in HOME tab contains the option of cutting, copying, and pasting text in Word.
The cut command in UNIX is a command for cutting out the sections from each line of files and writing the result to standard output. It can be used to cut parts of a line by byte position, character and field. Basically the cut command slices a line and extracts the text.
The following command line options are used by the cut command to make it more specific: -b, --bytes=LIST: It is used to cut a specific section by bytes. -c, --characters=LIST: It is used to select the specified characters. -d, --delimiter=DELIM: It is used to cut a specific section by a delimiter.
The cut command is a command-line utility that allows you to cut out sections of a specified file or piped data and print the result to standard output. The command cuts parts of a line by field, delimiter, byte position, and character.
The '-c' option is used to cut a specific section by character. However, these character arguments can be a number or a range of numbers, a list of comma-separated numbers, or any other character. To cut by specified character, execute the command as follows: cut -c < characters>
No, operating systems like Linux, and it's filesystems, don't make provision for removing data from the start of a file. In other words, the start point of storage for a file is fixed. Removing lines from the start of a file is usually accomplished by writing the remaining data to a new file and deleting the old.
Method 1: Truncate a file using truncate command The safest way to truncate a log file is using the truncate command. In the above command, -s is used to set/adjust the size (in bytes) of the file. When you use -s 0, it means you adjusted the file size to 0 bytes. If you view the file content, it will be empty.
Use the cut command to write selected bytes, characters, or fields from each line of a file to standard output. This displays the login name and full user name fields of the system password file. These are the first and fifth fields ( -f1,5 ) separated by colons ( -d: ).
To cut by character use the -c option. This selects the characters given to the -c option. This can be a list of comma separated numbers, a range of numbers or a single number. Where your input stream is character based -c can be a better option than selecting by bytes as often characters are more than one byte.
Cut by byte The '-b' option is used to cut a section of line by byte. To cut a file by its byte position, execute the command as follows: cut -b
