this is how you do a paper cutout effect in photoshop all right so before we get started lets just look at the assets that were going to need for this project so you obviously need an image that youre going to cut out preferably one that you can see all the way around the subject that just makes the effect look better youre going to need white crumpled paper as your texture you need another texture that youre going to put in the background and some tape but just know that i have all the assets that i used linked in the description below okay so once you have your image opened in photoshop the first thing were going to do is duplicate our main image twice so were going to go command or control j once and then command or control j twice this one at the top were going to name subject and then this one right here were going to name paper and we can leave background like this just click this to unlock it then were just going to hide the top layer and hide the bottom one and then

Edit Cut is greyed out? You must have layer selected in the Layers panel in order to use Cut command. One common error is the you are on the wrong layer, i.e., a layer that does not have pixels where you have made your selection. Check your layers panel.
