To split an existing Zip file into smaller pieces Open the Zip file. Open the Tools tab. Click the Split Size dropdown button and select the appropriate size for each of the parts of the split Zip file. Now click Split Zip File (to the left of Split Size).
Unfortunately, the zip utility that is built into Windows cannot unzip split archives. To unzip split archives under Windows, the HIRO recommends the 7-Zip Utility.
If you cannot open your SPLIT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click Open with and choose an application. You can also display a SPLIT file directly in the browser: Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.
Use WinZip to split files Step 1 Select the zip file you want to split in the file pane. You can split one zip file or multiple files just select whatever you want to split. Step 2 Click Add to Zip and select the Split option under Tools. Step 3 Save the new zip files to your desired location.
To recombine split files, double-click the first file in the sequence from within the 7-Zip interface. You can then select the file within the split-set and click Extract. Within the resulting dialogue box: select the directory into which you want to extract the file.
How to create a split Zip file Create a new Zip file or open an existing one in WinZip. Click the Tools tab and click Multi-Part Zip File. Type the name for your split Zip file and choose a target folder. Note: The name must be different from the name of the open Zip file. Click OK to create the Split Zip file.
You can select multiple WinZip files, right click, and drag them to a folder to unzip them all with one operation. From an open folder window, highlight the WinZip files you want to Extract. Right click in the highlighted area and drag to the destination folder. Release the right mouse button. Choose WinZip Extract to here.
