this video is by Marc Kingston from the era Institute of Canterbury and Christchurch New Zealand right so this video here is about how do we determine the cut size for a piece of steel as an example Im gonna make a ring 20 millimeter thick steel and I want the ring Im gonna give it a cat size simply Im gonna work out a cut size for a hundred millimeters as a diameter times up by PI it gives me a cat size of three hundred and fourteen point two millimeters when I go and roll that piece of steel up I find that my hundred millimeters comes across the mean diameter at this point here smacking the very center of the piece of steel so this distance across here hundred millimetres diameter at that point now its 20 mil thick half the piece of steel is on one side half the other side with the total distance across this point here being 20 millimetres so this distance and here is team this distance in here is team so when I work out when I cut a piece of steel and I roll it up at 100 mil co

The specific cutting force is calculated as the ratio between the material removal rate and the power measured on the spindle.
Milling Formulas Speed (RPM) = (SFM x 3.82) / D. Feed (IPM) = RPM x FPT x Z. SFM (Surface Feet per Minute) = (RPM x D) / 3.82. IPT (Inches per Tooth) = (IPM / RPM) / Z. MRR (Cubic Inches per Minute) = IPM * WOC * DOC. AFPT (@ less than 1/2 dia. WOC) = IPM x sqroot of (D / WOC) HP (Horsepower Consumption) = MRR x mf.
Machining Time = Length of Cut (mm) / Feed (mm per revolution) x Revolutions Per Minute. Revolutions Per Minute = 1,000 x Cutting Speed (mm per minute) / x Diameter of Rod (mm)
Cutting time is the time required to machine the workpiece. As shown in the formula below, cutting time can be found by ℓm (workpiece length) ℓ(cutting length per minute). Example: When cutting length per min is 20mm and workpiece length is 100mm; 10020=5. Cutting time is 5 minutes.
Feed Rate (fr) = Rotational Speed (N) x Feed (f). Note: Feed (f) is in distance/revolution.
The material removal rate (MRR) for Wire cut EDM is calculated by using the equation(1), MRR = FDwH (1) Where, F is the machine feed rate (mm/min), Dwis wire diameter (mm), H is the thickness of the workpiece (mm).
Feed Rate (fr) = Rotational Speed (N) x Feed (f). Note: Feed (f) is in distance/revolution.
The formula we use: Fpierce = C x t x S, where C is the blank circumference, t is thickness and S is the shear strength, which I normally use as 80 percent of tensile strength.
