Organizations (NPOs) - have to file a T2 return for every tax year, even if there is no tax payable.
A nonprofit can write off a number of expenses, including staff wages, employee benefits, maintenance and repair costs, advertising and marketing, and financial losses.
Charitable contributions must be claimed as itemized deductions on Schedule A of IRS Form 1040.
