The agenda for the special meeting on August 22nd includes the recommendation and approval of the cut score for the biology collection of evidence (COE) and a revised cut score for the math year one COE. The biology end-of-course assessment is a graduation requirement for the class of 2015, and the COE serves as an approved alternative to the test. Mike Middleton, director of selective assessments at OSPI, will explain how the recommended cut scores were developed. Students who completed the biology COE this year are awaiting pass results based on these scores. The cut score process was previously presented and approved at the March meeting. There will be time for discussion and questions at the special meeting, with more time allocated in September for broader policy considerations.
