The agenda for the special meeting on August 22nd includes the recommendation and approval of the cut score for the biology collection of evidence (COE) and a revisited cut score for the math year one COE. The biology end-of-course examination is a graduation requirement for the class of 2015, and the COE serves as an approved alternative to the test. Mike Middleton, Director of Selective Assessments at OSPI, will explain how the recommended cut scores were determined. Students who completed the biology COE this year are awaiting their results. The cut score process for both assessments was previously presented and approved at the March board meeting. Time will be allocated for discussion and questions at the meeting, with more opportunities for broader policy considerations in September.
