this video is going to cover flair cut another term thats BAE being used as transitional cut I generally like to stay with flair cut because Roger bliley who started doing this many years ago coined that that term for the style of Engraving and so rightfully so it in my opinion it should be called the flair cut but well no matter what you call it everybody has a little bit different take on it and what this video is about really is to show you what Ive been doing when Ive done is Ive come up with a geometry that works well for me and people can try it its basically a flat graver and it has a radius teal it has a an angle in the front I dont know how many degrees it is because I really dont measure it I just this kind of sharp and I usually do under the scope but you can see the leading edge which is what I cut with is further out than the rest of it and then I also have the side okay has a slight radiused heel because Im using kind of the corner of this graver and in talking to

Today there are two main types of engraving methods used in the RI industry-rotary and laser engraving.
Types of Engraving Etching. Etching is a process used to cut lettering, logos and graphics into glass, crystal and stone. Inside Ring Engraving. Inside/Outside Ring Engraving allows for that special message of the special event to be with you always. Laser Engraving. Rotary Engraving.
Laser engravers and laser cutters are basically the same machine. Trotec laser machines, like most lasers, can engrave as well as cut. They are just called laser cutters or laser engravers based on what their main use is. If the laser is largely used for cutting, it is usually referred to as a laser cutter.
The cost for laser engraving varies depending on the size and complexity of the job but generally ranges from $10 - $30 per piece, with $15.00 - $20.00 being common for a typical prestige acrylic piece.
Removing an engraving is not as expensive as you would expect. Typically it is the same price as polishing, but depends on the material of the ring. Removing can usually be done in one day.
Scoring is a single line, that cant be changed, and its basically the width of the laser beam itself. When a file is set up, setting that function to Score will give you an outline, setting it to Engrave will fill the area with a solid fill.
The main difference between specified cutting and engraving machines is the laser machine lens. The lens focal length is shorter in the laser engraving machine to give a finer spot size when working on materials. This gives a higher quality when engraving items such as photographic images.
Removing an Engraving In some cases, you can remove the engraving or etching on stainless steel as well as other metals yourself. For other, more precious metals and precious or valuable items, it is recommended that you get the engraving removed professionally.
The main difference between laser etching and laser engraving is that etching melts the micro surface to create raised marks, whereas engraving removes material to create deep marks. Both processes use high heat to create permanent markings on metal surfaces. Both processes are heavily used for part traceability.
Engraving is an intaglio printmaking process in which lines are cut into a metal plate in order to hold the ink. In engraving, the plate can be made of copper or zinc. The metal plate is first polished to remove all scratches and imperfections from the surface so that only the intentional lines will be printed.
