(light music) - [Sue] Hey everybody, welcome back to the vlog. Im so excited that youre joining me, because this is a really important topic. So, today we are talking about things you need to go, before you go and see a cancer specialist like me, it could be any specialist, it could be like my husband if youve watched some of the other videos, hes a board certified internist. Maybe youre seeing a cardiologist or an ophthalmologist or a neurologist, theres lots of specialists in veterinary medicine. And this could also be things that youre gonna apply when youre gonna see your veterinarian because, guys, lets be honest, its really overwhelming when we take our pets to the veterinarian, again, whether theyre a general practitioner or a specialist. Often we have our pets with us, were worried, were concerned, theres a lot of distractions going on, so, Ive seen thousands of patients in my 20 plus years in veterinary medicine and Ill be honest, a lot of mistakes. So, I hope

The short answer is yes every pet owner should know how to do basic CPR. Although no one likes to think about their pet choking, its a possibility, so its best to take the time to be prepared. You could save your pets life, and thats something youll never regret.
If a patient should experience cardiac and/or respiratory arrest (i.e. the heart stops beating or the pet stops breathing) we would begin CPR.
These are some of the most common dog emergencies and their price range: Anaphylactic shock: $500$1,000. Bloat: $1,500$7,500. Intestinal blockage: $2,000$10,000.
Cost of surgery to remove a foreign object from a dog or cat Typically, you can expect to pay between $2,000 and $5,000. As for endoscopy, the typical cost is between $800 and $2,000.
Cost of Biopsy in Dogs The cost of biopsy varies between the different kinds of biopsies used. Less invasive biopsies such as punch biopsy will cost between $400-$800 while more invasive or more involved surgeries could cost up to $2,500 (including hospitalization and medications).
CPR for pets can cost anywhere from $200 to $600, or more, depending on circumstances.
CPR may not be enough to sustain life in a pet. The current reported success rate in the veterinary population in the hospital setting is pretty variable (from 6-8% vs. 50% in anesthetic related arrests.)
With animals, theres also a cost issue. Averages from a few American veterinary clinics place the price of providing basic CPR at $200 to $300.
