How to nb chart

Hey, its Cathy. And I know its been a while since I have put out a video with some tips for you guys, just some tips in general as youre getting started on your nursing career. So I thought up a couple today that I wanted to share with you. The first is not to automatically follow the charting that came before you. The charting before you can be completely wrong sometimes. So I know as a new grad when I would go do my patient assessment and I would not hear crackles, like the nurses before me would chart crackles or something else and I wouldnt hear it, and I would double-check, and I sometimes will second-guess myself like, Well, Im a new nurse. Maybe Im just not hearing right. Im sure theyre probably right. Maybe I should chart crackles too. But Id really warn you against doing that. So in the end, I would not do it, but Id always second-guess myself, but Ive been working long enough now to see that people chart some crazy things. There are things that are just not true

Nominal Bore (NB) is the European designation equivalent to NPS is DN (diamètre nominal/nominal diameter/Durchmesser nach Norm), in which sizes are measured in millimeters. NB is also frequently used interchangeably with NPS. Outside diameter (OD) is the outside diameter of the pipe and is fixed for a given size.
A pipe schedule (SCH) is a measure of a steel pipe's nominal wall thickness. In the past, metal fabricators used three pipe dimensions — standard, extra strong, and double extra strong. Just having these three undetermined dimensions wasn't helpful, though. So today, steel pipes come in 14 different schedules.

For example, when we say pipe size is 2 NPS, it refers to all the pipes having 2.375-inch (or 60.3 mm) as outside diameter irrespective of wall thickness and inside diameter (ID). Nominal Bore (NB) is the European designation equivalent to NPS, in which sizes are measured in millimetres.
For example, a support that is quoted as 3” nb means it is for a PIPE with a 3″ nominal bore, and that PIPE has a fixed outside diameter of 3.5”. The wall thickness (Schedule) can vary hence the inside diameter is 3” nominal (around 3” up or down dependent upon the wall thickness).

Nominal bore is actually the approximate internal measurement across the diameter of the mouth of a pipe – NOT necessarily the expected diameter. As we know, pipes are for carrying fluids and gasses and therefore the internal diameter is critical for allowing us to calculate capacity, flow rates etc.
In the inch system, nominal bore is abbreviated as NB; in metric systems, it is “diameter nominal” (DN), or Nominal Pipe Size (NPS) in North America.
The SCH 10 Stainless Steel Pipe is a low schedule pipe that has lower pressure capacities. The diameter, the wall thickness and the length of the pipes vary ing to different standards such as the ASTM, ASME and API standards. The outer diameter of the SS 304 sch 10 pipe ranges from 21.3mm to 762mm.
It is worthwhile to note, the outside diameter of the pipe doesn't change, only the wall thickness and inside diameter. For example at 50NB, Schedule 10 and schedule 40 both have an OD of 60.33mm but schedule 40 has thicker walls and a smaller Internal Diameter.
