Hello and welcome to this session in this session I am going to go very basic step by step and we are going to learn XML schema or XSD from scratch Do not worry, If you have no prior knowledge on this topic, I will go step by step and you can also do a Hands-On along with me or you can just watch me and understand everything about XML schema So let's get started and let me first create a very simple XML here So I have created a element class and this is the start tag and an end tag, and now I have created a child element under class that is student We have a start and end tag here and under student we have first name last name and age So this is a very simple XML now an XML can be a well-formed XML and if a XML follows all the rules and syntax of a XML document that it has proper structure nesting start and end tags then Call it as a well-formed XML and we have already seen in the earlier sessions that you can use some online tools to validate your XML For example, here we are on free...

Everything in an XML document is a node. For example, the entire document is the document node, and every element is an element node. Root node. The topmost node of a tree. In the case of XML documents, it is always the document node, and not the top-most element.
In the XML family tree , parent can be identified as the outer element of any other inner elements in the hierarchy. For suppose, if we have 2 elements called element A , element B and if the element A is the outer element of element B, then element A will be called as Parent of element B.
An opening tag begins a section of page content, and a closing tag ends it. For example, to markup a section of text as a paragraph, you would open the paragraph with an opening paragraph tag and close it with a closing paragraph tag (closing tags always proceed the element with a /).
XML has three types of tags: opening tags, closing tags, and empty tags. XML tag names are enclosed in angle brackets and are case sensitive.
In addition to the XML declaration and the Document Type Declaration, XML docu-ments are composed of markup and content. In general, six kinds of markup can occur in an XML document: elements, entity references, comments, processing instructions, marked sections, and Document Type Declarations.
XML DOM splitText() Method The splitText() method splits the text node into two nodes at the specified offset. This function returns the node containing the text after the offset. The text before the offset remains in the original text node.
XML documents are formed as element trees. An XML tree starts at a root element and branches from the root to child elements. The terms parent, child, and sibling are used to describe the relationships between elements.
Notepad++ has a built-in feature to split large text files. To use this feature, open the large text file in Notepad++ and click on the Plugins menu. Select the Split option and a new dialog box will open. In the Split dialog box, select the number of lines you want in each file and click on the Ok button.
XML Naming Rules Element names must start with a letter or underscore. Element names cannot start with the letters xml (or XML, or Xml, etc) Element names can contain letters, digits, hyphens, underscores, and periods. Element names cannot contain spaces.
All XML elements must have a closing tag. XML tags are case sensitive. All XML elements must be properly nested. All XML documents must have a root element.
