so Im gonna show you how I cut my carbon arrows as well as how I glue in the inserts please let me know if you have any suggestions Im still kind of learning all this stuff the best less cheapest tool that I found for cutting them so far is one of these pipe cutters that you can pick up from any hardware store if youve never seen one of these you just basically tighten it down on the pipe or in this case the arrow and then you spin it around tightening it as you go until it cuts through I want to take some length out of this arrow so I first need to remove the tip which is hot glued in I can do that by heating up the tip but not the carbon directly and then pull it right out the next thing is to measure the arrow to the length I want to cut it I do that by measuring from the knot groove to the end of the arrow shaft Im gonna mark this one at 29 and the quarter inches then tighten my pipe cutter down on the arrow you want to make sure its not too tight instead you want to just kin

A good rule of thumb is to cut it no shorter than the middle of the riser. At full draw, your arrow end would sit right in the middle of the shelf. The best way to determine how long you want your arrows to be is to nock a full-length, uncut arrow and draw it back.

Use only a high-speed, abrasive wheel cutoff saw specifically designed for cutting arrow shafts. Use of any other method could result in damage to the shaft. It is recommended that your arrow shaft be cut at least one inch in front of the arrow rest at full draw.
Cut less than you think to start with and only cut a couple of your arrows down. Once youre sure what length you want, then cut the whole set down. Its easy to cut a little bit more off your arrow later on, its quite a lot harder to add some of the cut arrow back if youve cut too much.

Never shoot an arrow that is less than one inch past the arrow rest at full draw. Tip from the Pros: Try cutting arrow shafts on both ends to improve straightness. It is typical with all carbon arrows to find minute straightness flaws on the ends. Cutting both ends will often lead to better straightness and accuracy.
