The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
The Senior Citizen Property Tax Freeze program enables eligible seniors to prevent increases in their real estate taxes in the future. To be eligible your income must be $23,500 or less for a single person or $31,500 for a married couple.
First, either the claimant or claimant's spouse must be age 55 or older when the original residence is sold. Second, the replacement residence must be purchased within two years either before or after the current residence is sold. Third, one of the transactions must occur on or after April 1, 2021.
