How to Create read only PDF in Preview

5 out of 5
33 votes

Most PDFs are read-only by default, making them a good choice for consistent formatting. However, they can still be edited if you have a PDF editor. Flattening the file into an image can make it harder to edit but not impossible. To create a read-only copy of an editable PDF, open it on a browser, click print, select "save as PDF," and then name and save the file. If using a PDF editor, other elements can still be edited. You can also encrypt the PDF with a password to lock editing on most editors.
