Create a drop-down list On your Android phone or tablet, open a spreadsheet in the Google Sheets app. Tap the cell or cells where you want to create a drop-down list. In the top right, tap More . Tap Data Validation. Under Criteria, choose an option: The cells will have a Down arrow .
Set up rules for a question Open a form in Google Forms. Add one of the following types of questions: Short answer. Paragraph. Checkboxes. Click More . Click Response validation. Choose the type of rule you want. At the far right, type an error message that people will see when they enter an answer that breaks your rules.
Use a rule to validate data Select cells D2:D100 and, at the top, click Data Data validation + Add rule. This opens a sidebar with options for data validation rules. The Cell range field should be prepopulated with Customers! D2:D100. Select Text contains from the dropdown next to Criteria.
On the Excel Data tab, click Data Validation and select Data Validation from the drop-down. In the Data Validation dialog, select List from the Allow drop-down. In the Source field, enter = followed by the Name you defined in the previous step. Click OK.
Select the cell or cells where you want to create a dropdown list. Select an option: Enter @. In the Menu, under the components section, click Dropdowns.
Add data validation to a cell or a range Select one or more cells to validate. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, select Data Validation. On the Settings tab, in the Allow box, select List. In the Source box, type your list values, separated by commas.
Solution Go to the question where you want to set up a rule. Click the vertical ellipses icon (3 dots aligned vertically), then select Response validation. Choose the type of rule you want. (Optional) You can enter a custom message when they break the rule in the Custom error text field. Turn on Required.
Step 1: Highlight the cells you want to add the dropdown menu to. Click Data on the menu bar and then click Data validation. In Google Sheets, you can also highlight your cells, right-click, and then select Dropdown. Step 2: Fill out the response options in the boxes provided.
