In general, stick to 1 fancy or decorative font, and keep the other fonts very simple. You dont want them to compete. Also the MOST important thing about your book cover (for fiction at least) is the picture so dont distract or cover it up with the text.
Now, I know this thread is somewhat old but maybe this will still be helpful to someone out there. The typeface youre looking for, the one the books are printed in, is called Fournier Pro, and is sold by Monotype on Myfonts. Its the exact one used in the books. Hope this helps!
10 of the Best Fonts for Vinyl Adorkable. MaryKate Font Duo. Sleepy Sloth. Girly Girl. Greenlight Script. Hybrid. Longway. Longway is an all-caps serif font with a vintage feel to it. Dreamcatchers. Dreamcatchers is a handwritten sans serif font with a playful and dreamy look and bouncy baseline.
Use a font style that is simple, clear and commonplace, such as Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri. Font SIZES from 10-12 points are generally in the ballpark of looking appropriate.
Serif Sans-serif This is the most obvious and most popular pairing. Its simple to remember, and will look really clean and elegant on your cover. Polar opposite fonts are perfect to use you want the contrast between your typefaces to be as great as possible.
Helvetica, its safe to presume, is the most popular and widely used font in the world.
A cover font can be serif or sans-serif, modern or traditional, but it has to be eye-catching. Most importantly, it needs to be chosen on purpose for that particular book. Serif typefaces have small decorations or embellishments on the letters, like Times New Roman or Baskerville.
Both the Supreme Court and the Solicitor General use Century. Professional typographers set books in New Baskerville, Book Antiqua, Calisto, Century, Century Schoolbook, Bookman Old Style and many other proportionally spaced serif faces. Any face with the word book in its name is likely to be good for legal work.
