hi this is ryan spencer with rainbow tree care iamp;#39;m uh here to answer a question from dan dan has an ash tree in his yard with roots growing three to four inches above ground and he wants to know if he can cut those down to ground level and if itamp;#39;ll be safe for the tree iamp;#39;m sorry to say that we really never recommend cutting the roots on your tree roots are vital for the tree not only for absorbing and storing nutrients but keeping the tree anchored and in place as well um so cutting down the roots can really weaken or even kill your tree um definitely understand that you know those surface roots are inconvenient theyamp;#39;re tripping hazard theyamp;#39;re hard to mow over so typically we would recommend putting down mulch in those kind of turf areas in between those surface roots not only is it going to have benefits for the tree as a whole but youamp;#39;re not going to have to worry about kind of running those uh you know lawn mower blades over th
