Put your text and plain background in a smart object. Go to filter 3D generate normal map and adjust the details as required. After clicking OK save the document. To use that normal map, create a new document and a 3D layer with a material ( I used a simple extrusion below).
Open the primary image where your overlay will be applied. Open your selected overlay by going to Select File Open. Resize your selected overlay to match your primary image by going to Image Image Size. Copy and paste your overlay onto your image by going to Select All, then go to Edit Copy.
To use this, select the text area with the Lasso Tool, then go to Edit Content-Aware Fill, and Photoshop will analyze the surrounding content to fill in the selection. Lastly, the new AI-based Generative Fill tool allows you to remove text by typing a prompt.
Select the smaller text layer. Click the Layer Mask icon (third from the left at the bottom of the Layers panel) to mask out the rest of the text. Hide the visibility of the text from Step 2 or delete that layer unless you want to keep it to change its color.
Worn And Torn Text In Photoshop Step 1: Open A New Photoshop Document. Step 2: Fill The Background Layer With Black. Step 3: Set Your Foreground Color To White And Add Your Text. Step 4: Rasterize The Text. Step 5: Make A Jagged Selection Through The First Letter, Then Select The Rest Of The Word.
