If you decide to go with a table, essential elements that will make it talk to your reader include: a caption and a number (unless theres only one table) column headings across the top. row headings down the left‑hand column.
Convert a table to text Select the rows or table you want to convert to text. On the Layout tab, in the Data section, click Convert to Text. In the Convert to Text box, under Separate text with, click the separator character you want to use in place of the column boundaries. Click OK.
Tables generally include a Note beneath them. The Note starts with italicized word Note.. Table Notes should describe general features of the table first (e.g., you might include a plain-text description of the tables contents plus any broad features of the sample, such as sample size).
Note: A note may appear below the figure to describe contents of the figure that cannot be understood from the figure title, image, and/or legend alone (e.g., definitions of abbreviations, copyright attribution). Not all figures include notes. Notes are flush left, non-italicised.
Captions should contain a number, title, and any other appropriate explanatory information, including citations if the data was taken from another source. Captions convey information to the reader about the story being told with the figure or table.
The placement of the footnote symbol should go from left to right, followed by top to bottom. When a footnote refers to the whole table, for example referencing the source of the table content, the footnote symbol should go at the end of the table title.
APA table format Table number in bold above the table. Brief title, in italics and title case, below the table number. No vertical lines. Horizontal lines only where necessary for clarity. Clear, concise labels for column and row headings. Numbers consistently formatted (e.g. with the same number of decimal places).
Typically, the entire table title and caption should appear directly above every table, on the same page.
