Bleach actually damages fabric, making it very difficult to dye. If you still want to try and dye the garment, you could try using Rit Color Remover on the garment before dyeing.
Yes, you can cover bleach stains with dye. In order to ensure that your garment is the same color all over, it might be best to first bleach the whole garment with a fabric color remover (such as Rit Color Remover), then dye the entire garment ing to the directions on your preferred dye.
Dye will not cover stains, so your mission is to remove that stain first. Try Rit Super Stain Remover. It is a concentrated pre-treatment liquid that removes grease and oil-based stains. It is also effective on ketchup, chocolate and mustard stains from white and colorfast fabrics.
Fabric paints are perfect for hiding a stain whether you use liquid paint and a brush or spray fabric paint and a stencil.
Unfortunately, a bleach stain is permanent. Once bleach has made contact with a fabric, the stain will have set, stripping the colour or dye from the fabric. When it comes to removing bleach stains, the approach you should take is one of restoring the colour that has been lost rather than removing the stain.
Rinse. Rinse. Put the fabric under running water and rinse it. Use vinegar. Pour white vinegar onto the stain directly. Sit. Let the vinegar sit on the stain for at least five minutes. Rinse again. Using cold water, rinse the fabric thoroughly. Check. See if the yellowish stain is gone. Wash.
Use fabric dye or fabric markers: If the bleach stain remains noticeable, you can consider using fabric dye or fabric markers to color over the bleached area. Choose a dye or marker that closely matches the original color of the garment and carefully apply it ing to the product instructions.
Rit will not cover stains. However, you can still dye the item an even color as long as you remove the stains first. We recommend using Rit Super Stain Remover or Rit Color Remover to do this.
