Yes, most industries would describe 600 DPI as high-resolution. If an image has a resolution of 600 DPI, the printer will produce twice the standard number of dots per inch.
Remember these key pieces of information to get the best printed images, every time: Standard image resolution needs to be 300 DPI for images, and 400 DPI for images containing text. Save images in lossless file formats (TIF or EPS), not as low resolution GIF or JPEG files. Make sure your image uses CMYK color, not RBG.
Due to the enhanced quality 600dpi is commonly used for Government and Corporate applications. Usually where fine detail and high security applications are critical. 600dpi ID card printers offer: Higher definition.
This means that the more dots per inch (dpi), the higher the print resolution. For example, a 300 dpi printer can print 300 dots per inch of page space, whereas a 600 dpi printer can print double that amount, creating a much higher quality print.
The higher the dpi the better the resolution and the better copy/print quality. For example, 1200 X 1200 dpi will give you better resolution or copy/print quality than 600 X 600 dpi, thus giving you better copy/print quality and better half tones.
A 600dpi printer ensures operational success and efficiency by producing readable fonts and scannable barcodes on some of the smallest labels and tags. But if speed is your biggest need, a standard-resolution printer could be your best option.
Generally, 300 DPI is great for small prints, while 600 DPI is amazing for large prints. If youre scanning documents or photos to be used on the web or in emails, 300 dpi is more than enough. If you want to print large photos or blow them up to poster size, 600 dpi will give you better results.
However, if you want to print photos or other complex images, youll need a printer with a higher resolution. For example, Inkjet printers typically have a native resolution of 300 DPI or higher. Printers with a resolution of 600 dpi or higher are considered photo printers and can produce high-quality prints.
