You can either show or hide gridlines on a worksheet in Excel for the web. On the View tab, in the Show group, select the Gridlines check box to show gridlines, or clear the check box to hide them. Select the rows that you wish to collapse, then click on the Data tab and Groups in the Outline group, and then click on Group Rows. You will see a - sign on the left of column A. When you click on the - sign, the selected rows get collapsed. Now the - sign changes to + which denotes that the rows are hidden.
To collapse an outline in Excel, first select the data you want to collapse. Then, select the Data tab and click on the Group command. Youll then see an option to Collapse Outline. Click on this and the outline will be collapsed.

Hide an outline Go to File Options Advanced, and then under the Display options for this worksheet section, uncheck the Show outline symbols if an outline is applied check box.
Remove the border Select the text box or shape. If you want to change multiple text boxes or shapes, click the first text box or shape, and then press and hold Ctrl while you click the other text boxes or shapes. On the Format tab, click Shape Outline, and then click No Outline.
