The first value is set as top margin, second as horizontal margin (right left) while the third is set as bottom margin. The values are assigned to margins on sides starting from top and moving in a clockwise direction, i.e. the four values are set as top, right, bottom and left margin respectively.
Bootstrap Spacing Margin and Padding refer to predefined utility classes provided by Bootstrap for managing the spacing around elements. Margin classes control the space outside the elements border, while padding classes control the space inside the border.
In Markdown, you can add space between two lines by pressing Enter/Return key.
In CSS, a margin is the space around an elements border, while padding is the space between an elements border and the elements content. Put another way, the margin property controls the space outside an element, and the padding property controls the space inside an element.
Padding: Adds space inside the elements boundaries. Margin: Adds space outside the elements boundaries.
Margin is the space outside of a page element. Padding defines the space surrounding content within a web element. Margin controls the distance between separate elements on the page. Padding sets the distance between the content and the borders of its containing element.
Note: If you want to add margin to the left side you must use the class ms-* (margin start) instead of ml-* (margin left). Likewise for the margin on the right: you have to use the class me-* (margin end) instead of mr-* (margin right).
Both the margin property and the padding property insert space around an element. However, the difference is that margin inserts the space around the border, while padding inserts the space within the border of an element.
