Generally the figure legend should include: A title. The materials methods involved with the presented figure. Results, though this isnt always applicable. Any other miscellaneous details such as explaining abbreviations or image scale.

The legend of a graph reflects the data displayed in the graphs Y-axis, also called the graph series. This is the data that comes from the columns of the corresponding grid report, and usually represents metrics. A graph legend generally appears as a box to the right or left of your graph.
In the legend, you will need to explain each panel that you label and give the reader a brief takeaway of what it shows. As an example, with a fictional figure with two panels, A and B: Figure 2. The effects of risolol before and after animals were fed.
To draw a legend outside of a plot in R, you can use the legend() command to specify the position of the legend outside the plot. This command will create a legend with the labels and colors you have specified and place it outside the plot area.
Show a chart legend Select a chart and then select the plus sign to the top right. Point to Legend and select the arrow next to it. Choose where you want the legend to appear in your chart.
Regardless of how you choose to present your data, youll need to give the reader some context about whats in the table or figure if you do use them. This context is called the legend, the short textual information that guides the reader in interpreting what they see.
Important details such as the experiment description, the technique or method utilized, the animal model type used, the sample size, the conditions analyzed, and the outcome should all be covered (p-value). Legends should be written in full sentences, with the first letter capitalized.
